Q: iDVD won't burn DVD longer than 30secs

I'm thinking it's some type of memory issue, but I'm not familiar with iDVD enough to fix it. I'm working on an old computer that was used a lot before me. Any ideas guys?

Wth the amount of information you've given us we can't begin to suggest a solution.  We can't see you Mac so have no idea what you're doing.

1 - what system are your using?

2 - how much free space do you have on your boot drive?

3 - what version of iDVD are you using?

4 - what type of project, i.e. what kind of media are you using in the project, slideshow from stills, movies?  If movies what format and from where.

5 - what theme are you using?

6 - if you're adding music what format are the files being used?

7 - what do you mean by won't burn longer than 30 seconds?  Do you get an error message?  If so what is it exactly.

Try following:this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:

Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.

To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.

Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
