Forgotten start up password and disc.

Hi there,

I'm having a bit of trouble as I can not for the life of me remember the password for my macbook pro (haven't had to sign in in years!) and it's got to the point where I need to update the software but can't with out the password and I have also lost the start up disc so can't reset it.
