Q: Another Reject for Technical Issues

Hey Guys,

I have been getting rejected by iTunes over the past couple weeks. I have read over some other member having these issues and tried their fixes. Like adding an explicit tag and changing the forced download, which I thought was the culprit but still I am getting rejected. I hope another set of eyes might be able to spot something I have missed. I have listened to every episode and they all seem to work. I have subscribed to the feed within iTunes and it seems to work well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Your 'link' tag doesn't contain a proper URL - you need to include the http://

Your pubDate tags are technically incorrect (though iTunes has always seemed fairly relaxed about this - you have

    Thu May 26 2016 16:39:56 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time)

    it should be

Thu, 26 May 2015 16:39:56 then either GMT-0700 or PDT (not both, and not the full time zone name).

In your 'enclosure' tags the "length" attribute must be the file size in bytes, without commas.

The 'guid' tag for your top episode reads

As the content is not a URL it should read

though I'm not sure this is important to the Store, however it might as well be fixed.

However having said all that, I just tried validating the feed at Podcasts Connect and it passed...

Ya, it seems to validate and get submitted without any issue but a day it will come back rejected. I'll try fixing these things first and try again. Thanks for the help.

That suggests it's the byte range issue - they used to identify that but perhaps they've stopped bothering. I'm afraid that if this is the case it will mean finding another server (unless the people running yours can enable it).

    Spex,

If you submitted this to iTunes long ago and it was rejected, the Podcasts Connect help website notes:

If Apple removed a podcast for a concern type that does not allow you to resubmit the podcast, Podcasts Connect dims the podcast in the dashboard and you cannot delete the podcast. Instead you must fix the issue, change the RSS feed URL, and submit the podcast as a new podcast.

I've found it helps to make sure your title is unique when you submit the podcast. After submitting, change it back to your original title if desired.

As always, contact the Podcasts Support team if you can't resolve it on your own or with our help:

Ya I read that too. The first time it was rejected I contacted customer service by email and they said it was the auto downloading that was the issue and told me to fix it then resubmit the whole podcast. Which is what I did but I didn't change the name and what not. I'll give that a try.

    Thanks for the info
