Q: Transfer eBook from iBooks to phone

I Want to send an unprotected ebook from an iPad to a smartphone. iBooks doesn't offer the function to transfer files. How can the ebook be synced?

iPad mini 2 , iOS 9.2.1

Copy it from your phone to your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, and if using a Mac with iBooks on it then do File > Move Books From iTunes in it, and you can then sync/copy from your computer to the phone

Will this work with an android Smartphone? Can iTunes send a pdf ebook to such a device?

I was hoping for a solution with direct file transfer. Not having to make a detour with a pc in between.

iTunes can't, you will have to find the book on your computer. If it's a PDF, when you open it in iBooks does it give you the email option via the share icon (not all will) ? If not then when you've copied over to your computer, right-click it in the Books section of your iTunes library and select 'show in explorer' on the popup to see where it's stored on your computer's drive.
