I have files of photos and other documents on my Mac which I want to "date" earlier that 12/31/1969 so that they sort in the correct date order. However, while I can reset the date with the Terminal line command "touch -t YYYYMMDDHHMM filename", this date reverts to 12/31/1969 when I reboot.
How do I get these dates to be permanent?

Thanks but I don't see any option that would make the change permanent.
It is not possible. The start date for Unix is 1/1/1970. It is not possible to set any file dates earlier than that.
