Lost Canon Scanner in system Preferences

Have Canon Scanner 9000f mk 11.connected via USB. It seems to have disappeared from System Preferences although it's showing as connected in System Report. I can still use it thru. Scan Gear and Image Garden but I preferred using it thru. the OS. I prefer the interface. Tried rebooting and reconnecting USB to no avail. It was working fine yesterday. Must have clicked something I shouldn't have. The OS. seems to have lost track of it.

Any ideas would be welcomed. Thanks.

The appearance of the scanner icon in Printers & Scanners relies on an ICA driver. Canon has two drivers available for this scanner; an ICA and a TWAIN driver. The TWAIN driver works with the Canon applications, ScanGear and My ImageGarden, but this driver does not make the scanner icon in Printers & Scanners. The ICA driver, which does make the icon in Printers & Scanners, is for use with applications like Image Capture and Preview. Sounds like you have an issue with the ICA driver, or a recent software update may have removed your scanner from the supported models list. I will have to check that later to see if that is the case. In the meantime, here is a link to Canon's ICA driver package v4.0 which lists the CS9000F Mk II as a supported device and should get the device reappearing in Printers & Scanners.

If the ICA driver has installed correctly then if you open Image Capture, then you should connect to the CS9000F and be able to scan. Does this happen?

If it does then I'm not sure why its not appearing in Printers & Scanners, because when it does and you click on Open Scanner, the preview window that opens is basically the same interface used by Image Capture.

Thanks PAHU. It's now working. Opened Image Capture and message 'Scanner not connected' appeared. Clicked on File, 'reset Twain' and the scanner started. I said in my first post that I'd probably clicked on something I shouldn't have. It seems I was right. Not sure what it was though. Thanks again for your help and patience.
