how long does it take field to reset after deregister imessage failure

put in my phone number to deregister imessage, It didnt send text message after about 10 minutes or so so I attempted to redo it. it then gave me error that I had tries too many attempts and locked me out for undisclosed period of time.

soon after I received the original text with verification but now It will not let me enter it into verification field. it is grayed out with a stop cursor when hovering pointer.

been several hours and still not releasing input field

so was wondering if the site will allow a retry or what?
