Q: iMac Admin Access for new Set

I restored my iMac to factory settings and appear to have set up a "guest" but dont remember the password.  Can I reset this from a log in prompt or do I need to reinstall the OS from recovery?

Time Capsule, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

    Hey there monicafromstjohns!

It looks like you're seeing a Guest user now when you log into your user account and want to know how to remove or access it.

The Guest user should not have a password on it to login.  If you don't want it to be an option at login, you can enable/disable it in System Preferences. Under System Preferences > Users & Groups, then after you unlock the window with your Admin password, you can pick the Guest user and change its access.  This is also the way you could manage any other user accounts and update their passwords.

Updating those user settings and passwords can be done any of the way in our article here:

Change or reset the password of an OS X user account - Apple Support

Options could differ a little depending on your Mac OS X version.  If anything looks different, reply back with that version number in  > About This Mac.

    Best regards.
