Q: converting video files from a mini disk to use in iMovie

I've tried downloading Streamclip 1.9.2 and "Free Vob to iMovie and the files will not transfer.  I keep getting an error message saying the file is not a compatible file and won't let me go any further.  I used a Sony Wide LCD DCR-DVD650 to record my friends wedding and now I can't get the footage into iMovie!  HELP!
