Thanks for asking your question here in the Apple Communities. I'd definitely want to have access to all the emojis, too.
The first thing we want to try is to see if the emojis show in Safe Mode or a Test User. This should resolve the issue, but if it does not, and the emojis show in either Safe Mode or the Test User, then there is information in the articles provided below to assist further. Lastly, you can always make a backup, format the drive which erases everything, and restore a new version of the operating system. If the emojis are back, then you can migrate the data back in.

Move your content to a new Mac Follow the section "Use Migration Assistant"
Cheers.

Thanks for continuing the troubleshooting here. At this point, we need to ensure all your personal data is safe. Use this article to make a Time Machine backup to an external drive: Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac.
Then, format your hard drive through OS X Recovery, and reinstall a brand new version of OS X. This article will help: Erase your drive and install OS X.
This must be done through OS X Recovery. Then, set up the Mac like it was new. Do not restore from your backup yet. Test if the emojis are back. If they are, you will then have to migrate your data back.
Cheers.
