Yeah ios automatically downloads the latest update when connected to WI-FI. Then you have that pop up that says "would you like to install ios 9.x.x" and there two options remind me later or install at 2am-4am when battery is above 50%. That what's happened with SE IOS altomatically downloads the latest update then it has the pop up asking for permission to install it.

THts wht my question is abut how to turn off tht auto updats.

IN earlier ios version v wer asked for permision before downlode and even before install but here is ios 9.*.* its not consider important for the users its like u dont have option after purchasing phone u have to do as we want is it so.?

i Was much cormfotable with my old version and it be dificult to understnd new system of ios for many users so we must atlist get tht option of permision before downlode.

The setting under Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Updates only affects App Updates. It will not stop iOS updates from auto downloading. iOS updates auto download IF you are both on Wi-Fi and on power. It was that way on iOS 8 as well as iOS 9.

To delete an update that has already downloaded (but not installed) go to to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage > Manage Storage (the first one) > and if there is an update, delete it.

If you don't want the auto-download to download again, disable Wi-Fi while charging. That is the only way to my knowledge (there is another way at the router level but it would prevent all iOS updates - also if there is not enough space on your device).

Auto downloaded iOS updates do not install automatically, you have to allow it although it will pester you until you do. As already mentioned it is wise to install them to resolve issues and stay secure.
