Q: outgoing mail server incorrect password on 5s

just a few days ago for no apparent reason my emails quit being sent. I am so confused. I still receive emails. I can send emails on my windows computer through the same account.  I admit i'm confused with the outlook vs icloud vs msn addresses.  I have tried to go into the advanced settings and make sure all the passwords are correct and they seem to be.  If I put an incorrect password in I am notified immediately that it is incorrect.

it appears that

smtp-mail.outlook.com is my primary serve for outgoing  under imap acct info for MSN

outgoing mail server on icloud account info is icloud smtp server and under smtp my primary server is smtp-mail.outlook.com

can anyone help me?

iPhone 5s, iOS 9.3.2

    Greetings NanaHope,

I see from your post that you’re not able to send emails on your iPhone even though you can receive your emails. I know how important being able to send emails is. I’ll be happy to help.

Take a look at this resource: Get help with Mail on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Sometimes the easiest way to resolve email issues on your iPhone is to remove and re-add the account. Here are the instructions from the resource:

Remove your email account and set it up again

If you still have issues with sending and receiving email, try removing your email account from your device and then add it back again:*

    1. On your computer, sign in to your email provider’s website to verify that all of your email is there or check if your email is saved somewhere other than your iOS device.
    2. On your iOS device, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    3. Tap the email account you want to remove.
    4. Tap Delete Account.
    5. Add your account again.

*iOS backups made in iCloud and iTunes include a backup of your mail settings, but not your emails. Emails deleted from your iOS device aren’t recoverable from an iCloud or iTunes backup. Learn more about backups in iCloud and iTunes.

    Cheers!
