MacBook won't recognize new SSD

ddecided to upgrade my hd to a ssd. created a bootable usb with El Capitan. When I boot into recovery mode my MacBook doesn't recognize the usb or the new SSD. I then decided to just fresh install El Capitan on old hd and clone it to an internal hard drive I have for storage. I tried to put the hd back in and I keep getting an error has occurned message when I boot up. I then booted in recovery mode to delete the hd and install el capital via the Internet. Keeps saying that the installation of El capitan has failed and to try again. This has happened 2 times. I'm out of ideas on what to do. Help!!!!

for the bootable installer see apples directions and use the one specific for 10.11, other links may have directions that are not complete, use apples specifications:

Create a bootable installer for OS X - Apple Support

for the SSD you may wish to see if it's detected by Disk Utility in recovery mode

Create a bootable installer for OS X - Apple Support

if it is you can format it to Mac Extended Journaled before installing OS X and verify it.
