Q: using local dropbox files in keynote

Hi

I have downloaded some video files in dropbox to be stored 'locally' in my offline files.

Is there any way I can used these offline files in my keynote presentations?

Currently I can only use actual drop box files online as a 'location' I don't seem to be able to specify the local Dropbox files as a location option?

1 - Download and installed the Dropbox application:

2 - Drag and drop the video files from the Dropbox folder on your mac, directly into Keynote

    Hi

thanks for these suggestions.  I forgot to mention that I am using an Ipad, not a MAC desktop.

I have the dropbox app on my Ipad, and Keynote.  I have stored .mov and .mp4 versions of my movie and can see them in my ipad dropbox app, and can download them as 'local' files within Dropbox.

I cannot figure out how to get these downloaded files into Keynote on my Ipad?

I can link to dropbox on my Ipad Keynote as a 'location' but when I try to download any files directly into Keynote I cam getting error messages.  The files are 250mb, quite big files?  Is this a problem?

How can I get these dropbox movies into Keypad on my Ipad?  Are there any apps which will store the files in my camera roll as movies?

You are in the wrong discussion to ask that question, this is the Mac discussion, however since your here, do the following:

    • open Keynote on the iPad
    • touch the;   + button (top right on the tool bar)
    • touch;   Insert From....
    • touch the required file
    • the file will be downloaded and inserted into Keynote

Appreciating this is the wrong bit of the forum, but another question.  I have tried the technique you suggest but after downloading the file I get the message that the file I have downloaded 'cannot be played on this device'.  I have tried m4v and mov video versions and neither will load up, they are around 250mb?  Is there a preferred or mandatory format for Keynote movies?

Keynote is specifically designed to use m4v files, try closing Keynote then open up again and re-insrt the video

If the file has digital rights management (DRM) attached, it will not play in Keynote.

DRM is set by the owners of the file to stop unauthorised use, many files from iTunes and other commercial libraries prevent copying.

H264  mov files are also specifically Keynote friendly.

Does the file play in Keynote on your Mac?

    Hi

Interesting ... it was an m4v file which was rejected after apparantly downloading.  It is my own work, so no DRM on it ... I'll try it out on my MAC and see if the same thing happens.

Thanks for your help with this.
