iMovie keeps crashing while I edit. Any ideas on how to fix this?

iMovie keeps crashing while I edit. Any ideas on how to fix this? It might be a corrupted file in the film, but I still wouldn't be able to delete it in iMovie because it crashes. I'm pretty much stuck unless any one of you could help out. I would really appreciate it.

I also tried editing a very old video and no crashes there so I'm sure its a corrupted file. I just don't know how to get to it.

If the crash occurs when editing a particular clip then delete and reimport that clip. If it happens on multiple clips then I would copy all the clips in the timeline, create a new project and paste the clips into it. If it still occurs in the new project try opening iMovie holding down the command and option keys and delete the preferences.
