Shift Key Software Glitch

Out of nowhere, my shift key got stuck... I'm using the Apple AluminumWired Keyboard (MB110LL/A) on my iMac running El Capitan... so I replaced the keyboard. Everything worked fine until it happened again. The only thing I know that was a common denominator is the current version of After Effects. I had rendered out a composition... the same composition... because I needed it exported and once the shift key got sTuck it was hard to function in After Effects.

Here's a fun extra bit of info, you see that capital T in the word stuck above? I didn't capitalize it. When I typed it, it just happened. It happened a few times just before that writing this post but it's getting really strange. Normally the autocorrect would even fix it but it didn't.

Does anyone have any ideas? I rebooted without a keyboard connected... of course haven't finished the export yet... and now it's back to normal with the exception of the random letters during this post.

Any knowledge would be much appreciated.

P.S. -

I'm not sure why it lists the iPad Air and iOS 9 at the bottom of the post, that's completely irrelevant to my question.

I have the same problem

To produce the capital letter T i have to use caps lock for that letter because the shift key and the letter key wont produce any thing. I'm still using a late 2009 Imac and the magic key board supplied at the time

Sometimes a PRAM reset helps. Restart the computer holding down the command - option/alt - P - R keys before the gray screen appears. Continue to hold until you hear the startup chime for the second time.

FWIW, the newer wired extended keyboards seem to be fussy how you strike the keys. I just picked up a brand new one and I occasionally have to fool with the shift key in order to cap certain letters. Also I swear keys I pressed don't always register.
