    Hey there G-Force22,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

Emptying a junk folder or any mailbox should result in no number showing at all. Let's work together and make that happen! So the junk folder shows "5" messages, yet the folder is empty. Start with these few items:

    1. Close the Mail Application completely. (Double press your home button on the front of the device. Swipe all windows to the top of the screen and they will close.)
    2. Power the device off. (Press and hold the power button on the side of the device until you see "Slide to power off")
    3. Leave that device off for about a minute and then power back on.
    4. Confirm if the junk folder is truly empty now.

If the number is still present, check out this resource which has amazing tips and links to other articles that should clear this up for you!
