Q: DiskMaker X - (Airdrop doesn't work properly?)

Hi guys

Have any of you used this program http://diskmakerx.com/ to generate a copy of Mac OSX operating system onto a bootable USB drive?

If you have and you have been having issues with Air Drop; like myself I found this has been the issue why Airdrop hasn't been working properly

(This issue has been on going for a number of years and I have done a number of re-installs over that time using different versions of Mac OS X but using a bootable USB - (copy of the Mac OSX is required to be downloaded and sitting on your hard drive first before using this program)

To get to the bottom of my issue of why Airdrop doesn't work properly I did a clean install on my iMac through the recovery method.

Backed up important files

Restarted the IMac holding down the Command - R  keys (Recovery mode)

Disk Utilities - Erased my drive

Clicked on "First Aid" to check the drive (exited disk utilites)

Installed a new copy of Mac OSX using my Apple ID (depends on your internet speed this can take a while to download)

After installation was complete I found Air Drop works every single time.

Since finding out what's been the cause (In my own case I will highlight)

I have since done the same procedure of reinstall "without using DISKMAKER X" on my Mac Book Pro, Airdrop also works every single time.

Don't use this Diskmaker x program.

My guess the Apple community guru's will say you should only download and install directly through your Apple ID (App store) anyway and not use such programs

" A lesson learned"

Happy computing
