This Re: Why does apple.com/fr not abide by French Republic laws, especially article 8 of the "Décret n°61-501" ? has an extreme example of the effect of fixed Space+1/2 line spacing on text of a different size. Actually, the whole thread seems to suffer from random  rendering.

I have a readable font on the content page now by adjusting the minimum font size (I use Opera) in preferences. -- but this part of the forum is terrible as it is super-sized with too much blank space.

Also - in the upper right hand corner - the support communities and Using support communities is partially overlaying  "Content People Search Post"      Considering all the wasted space amazing.

I understand that Apple want to make things easier for people searching for answers. I wish they would work to make it easier for those of us wanting to supply those answers.

Absolutely, if I'm going to waste more than half my time trying to get around the limitations of the new design to help a user, I'll find other sites where I can offer my help.

In addition, for someone like me that has arthritic hands, many of the changes require more use of my hands to scroll, dismiss etc that makes it physically painful to use.

There is absolutely no consideration for handicap users on the forums as it's designed. Shame on Apple!

I am getting a headache with the gray looking font and lack of contrast. This is a "looks" instead of "performance" change....

While we wait for change try these Minimal CSS tweaks for ASC which will give you control over font size, weight and color.

I added Stylish to Firefox, but it's requires some learning to even start using it. I've added CSS files to my browsers in the past that were easy peasy to do, but having to recode a site like this is getting to be more of a pain than should be necessary. Reminds me of the stunts Microsoft pulled over on it's forums when they re-deisgned their site. Now there are almost no volunteers there that help users.

BTW, typing in the reply box shows in a very small font, but when it posts it's larger. Hard to even see what I'm typing.

Sure. If you type in plain text and do nothing with it the site will render it at 22px in the current design.

For contrast here are some specific sizes.

    8 point

    10 point

    12 point

    14 point

    18 point

22px is equivalent to 16.5 point.

    tt2

Aall of the sizes should be specified in "pt" units. Then, in theory, it should have the same apparent size on any display. You can also use "em" units for things like line height that are relative to font size. People usually don't bother with "pt" because they test on every browser and device.

This is a long thread so I may have missed this if mentioned. When viewing this thread the page keeps reloading every 30-60  seconds or so. The list goes blank with a ...loading alert. This happens repeatedly and it makes reading the content very difficult.

I also agree with other posts about font, layout, and navigation. Just terrible.

Forgot to mention that this is some new meaning for the word better that I am not aware of --

I always thought to make better meant to make a interactive screen easier to read and easier to use.

Thanks to Diana, seventy one,and TRATRA for your most recent comments. It's important everyone stays involved. The hosts aren't mind readers and I think they're getting conflicting marching orders from above and the contributors. It's not a job I'd want.

And as seventy one so rightly assumed, after a needed break I rejoined the fight. I did step back a bit. After spending time with the new Forum in the Spanish language community, ES-ASC I wanted to see how it played here.

One suggestion for those that are "listening" (any one?). Please make the font black again and make it the same thickness as before. The current style is giving me headaches. I may have to implement the CSS tweak in tt2 User Tip.

Thank you. I have to learn to read all my mail before replying. I didn't realize the thread has so many replies before my above reply.

Hopefully font faintness and size are changes 1 & 2.

Edit. Let's try faint size and Bold again.
