Hi,

I am Brito Benny and am an IT professional based in India, I had a serious issue  with my Mac as its not turning on all of a sudden .... When i gave it in service center they told its logic board has  to be replaced , and it costs around  INR 44,000 (650$).am totally disappointed with my apple mac book air...... is there any hope of rectifying it.

Service center charges INR2000 just for opening it and i  paid it for my dead apple. and if that is the case how can trust apple any more....

Hi. Take a look at the steps suggested by Apple in this article:

If your Mac won't turn on - Apple Support

    Try Safe Boot:

    - Shut down your Mac

    - Wait until your computer turns off and after that press the Power button

    - Right after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key

    - Release the Shift key when you see a grey Apple sign and the progress bar below this sign

    - After your Mac boots up, restart it as you usually do.

If this doesn't help, follow the instructions below:

    - Shut down your Mac

    - Wait until your computer turns off and after that press the Power button

    - Right after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key

    - Release the Shift key when you see a grey Apple sign and the progress bar below this sign

    - Once you see Desktop, start a Disk Utility scan to detect and repair file system errors (don't forget to choose your main hard drive)

    - Click on Verify Disk and then, if asked to fix problems, on Repair Disk

    - After this, click on Verify Disk Permissions and then on Repair Disk Permissions

    - After the process is finished, shut down your Mac and turn it back on after about 30 seconds

Apart from that, take a look at this Apple article and follow the instructions on Resetting NVRAM shown there: How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Try resetting the System Management Controller: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Brito,

I had the same problem with my 2013 13 inch MacBook Air bought in Brazil. When I tried to turn it on next morning it never worked. I took it to assistance and was charged just to hear that the logic board stopped with no explanation. Too expensive here in Brazil to have it changed and I am very disappointed with Apple assistance. After less than 3 years usage it just stopped (Never had this problem before with other brands). Now that I am looking for solution I discovered that Apple NEVER answered one single complain out of over 11.000 in a specific brazilian service (reclameaqui). I am afraid my other Apple gadgets could go the same way: MacBook, TimeCapsule, AppleTV, IPads, Iphones... Too sad if you invest more expecting that the product would last longer!
