Time Machine Backup only on LAN connection

Hello,

i have a Ethernet LAN and a Wireless connection to the same network. Is it possible to force Time Machien Backup to only use the ethernet LAN connection in any case? I want to prevent TMB to limit the bandwith of my wireless network.

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

Force Ethernet to be the highest ordered network interface, and as long as you are Ethernet connected, it will be the preferred interface for all traffic.

If you want seamless switching between WiFi and Ethernet, then have your Router reserve the same IP address for the Ethernet and WiFi interface connections. This is done differently by different router makes and models. For an Airport Extreme/Time Capsule, it would be done by giving your Ethernet and WiFi TCP/IP settings the same DHCP Reservations name, then associating the DHCP Reservation name to an IP address in the Airport Extreme network settings.

OK. Look at ControlPlane

It might be able to disable TimeMachine when you are on WiFi and then re-enable it when you are on Ethernet. Might also need an Applescript to enable disable, that ControlPlane invokes when it detects you have changed between Ethernet and WiFi.

However, unless you are modifying huge files that need to be backed up over WiFi, the TimeMachine network overhead should not be too bad.
