Q: how do I prevent my ipad from changing from my wifi to the printer wifi which is on the same network/

Every time I print from my Ipad to my HP Envy 5330 printer my ipad disconnects from my wifi network and defaults to the printer listing on my available networks list on my ipad.  Lose Internet as well as ability to print from Ipad.  Is this a problem that can be fixed?

iPad 2, iOS 9.3.2

Usually when this happens for me, I use a computer to connect to my printer because it's more reliable. I haven't tried to print from my iPad but I believe that if you just try putting the link in a email and send it to a computer you can print it off that way.

It sounds like you have WiFi Direct enabled.

I know this is a bit of a pain, but this is what I would recommend.

    • Reset all settings on the printer.

    • Re-network the printer.

    • Identify the printer's IP address.

    • Go to that IP address from a computer.

    • Make sure the Bonjour address is the same as the IP address.

Then try and print something from your iPad. These steps should make sure WiFi Direct is off. And it should make sure the printer is properly configured to use AirPrint.

Make sure you turn off auto join which will stop the iPad joining the wifi when it loses connect to your wifi or you can forget the wifi and just type in the password when you need to use the printer.
