Q: Magic Mouse Lag & Disconnecting

10.11.5 MacPro 5,1 mid 2010

The mouse lag and disconnecting is so bad I've had to revert to a lesser mouse which is causing a problem in my production. I am a graphic designer and need that mouse. I've tried every solution that I've read here and on the web with no success. I am going to purchase a bluetooth adapter to see if that helps at all. Any suggestions on that dongle/adapter or has anyone found a solution to this bluetooth problem. I have new usb 3.0 devices and cables coming in this week and as I've read this disconnect gets worse with usb 3.0.

Anyone, please help before I have no hair left!

If your using a first generation Magic Mouse, the disconnect problem is sometimes caused by bad battery contacts. Here is a solution:

Thanks Tom for these links. I have since replaced the PRAM battery. Moved all externals as far away from the tower as possible. Cleaned the mouse and inserted foil. So far it's working! I The paper trick caused the mouse not to work at all. The lagging and disconnects got worse since I added a usb 3.0 hub. Let's see what happens when I add the usb 3.0 pci card when it gets here.

Any luck with a dongle/adapter?

Well that was short lived. Back to herky jerky mouse that gets lost in the forest.
