Merge Folders without replace files- El Capitan

Hello guys.

If I have these 2 folders in distinct locations, each with 3 folders inside:

1-In Desktop:

*Folder XYX

-Folder 1

-Folder 2

-Folder 3

2-In other location:

*Folder XYZ

-Folder 4

-Folder 5

-Folder 6

When I drag folder 2 to the desktop, this REPLACE folder 1. So in my desktop remains:

*Folder XYZ

-Folder 4

-Folder 5

-Folder 6

Folder 1, Folder 2, Folder 3 were deleted!!!!!

How to avoid this?

In Unix and OS X you are replacing the folder, not adding or merging files. What you are expecting is the way it works in Windows. To prevent this from happening, open both folders side by side in Finder and copy the files from the other location folder to the Desktop folder. Then delete the other location folder.

Hello Boyd,

This is logic and factible for few folders, but....

....what happen when you have several zip folders with some of the same folders (with complementary files) ?

It will be tedious.

You can use sync applications as FreeFileSync.

If you want to merge two folders you must select "Update" sync variant:
