Q: Content Management Systems for FCPX?
Currently, we make a lot of videos and we have 3 different video editors in 3 different parts of the country. It’s getting cumbersome shipping external hard drives with our source files amongst each other and we are trying to find an easy way. Our plan right now is to set up a FTP server here at the main office with a ton of storage, and when an editor needs to work on a project they can download the soruce files they need and work on everything locally, and then upload their new project files when it’s all done. It seems like that could get kind of cumbersome too after a while, especially if a different editor has to change something and the previous one didn’t upload every file that changed.
Does anyone know if there is any kind of CMS / Content Management System that works good with Final Cut Pro? What I would like is something that sits on our server and an editor can go to a web page to automatically check a project in or out, and any files that get changed or added will automatically sync up. Our IT department wants to use Git, but I think that’s more for programming and text based files, not huge video files. So I’m trying to see if there’s anything better and hopefully able to be integrated with final cut too? Anyone know of anything good? I tried googling around, but haven’t find anything that looks worthwhile.
