Q: HORRIBLE new User Interface of Apple Communities

The day I feared as arrived.

Even theApple Communities - that have Old School Apple lovers - suffered from this disease too...the horrible Design trends nowadays.

So with that said, I am 100% confidently that more people are experience this too.

I would like to suggest to keep in touch with some admins to see if the message arrives to higher hierarchy. Apple... Please... Here at Apple Communities who here wants to come back or at least have the option to use the Old Layout?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Error on Software Update.

I agree, but this is not the place to complain about it.

Where would be the proper place to do that? And why not in a forum that is about the operations of the Apple Support Communities?

    Send them some feedback.

you won't get anything but an auto reply but it's been said that all feedback is logged and read

Since this forum is about the operations of the Apple Support Communities why is it not an appropriate place to comment on the operation of the Apple Support Communities?

Yes, I agree with both you and skydiver.  Corrier is a level one member and has no access to anywhere else that allows him/her to make their views public.   There is a certain satisfaction in that, even though we know nothing can come of it, unlike us, where we have the lounge to send messages from.

Corrier, do follow the advice about sending your complaint to Product Feedback, all the same.

    Edited twice, sorry.

I concur this is crap since the last so call upgrade.

I especially hate the thing that pops up at the top of the screen which is completely worthless.

The second thing you can get rid of is see all posts. Why did I come here if I didn't want to see all posts in the first place.

    Minimal CSS tweaks for ASC

Okay, one can have long discussions as to whether using CSS should be necessary but frankly you can either wait for Apple to do something about it; and wait; and wait; and wait; or you can do something yourself and see the changes in a minute or two.  I know this document isn't going to help a first time visitor but frequent visitors should be well aware of using CSS in response here by now (or have not been looking at any of the Lounge topics or even any of the several other topics in the Using ASC forum accessible to anybody).

Ok guys, so we all have seen where this company is going. For me it's time to get smart and work on How To Survive Horrible Apple After Steve Jobs.
This is my suggestion and what I am doing: Basically I am downgrading everything Apple done until Steve Jobs was alive, until late 2011. Because Steve Jobs had a high standard of quality on customers. My downgrading: to OS and iWork 09.

At this moment I am doing a partition on my hard drive to install Snow Leopard OS, because I love the skeuomorphism design and the flat design to my view is a horrible trend, witch on my view it was created with the purpose of adjusting to small screens to facilitate the visual processing. But I think it failed completely. And I will still have a more updated OS because in S.O.S if I need to run any application that doesn't run more on OS Snow Leopard, I have this OS to rescue me.

    Those are my suggestions:

: Downgrade to Snow Leopard OS.

2º Buy via Amazon iWork 09, where the Skeuomorphism design was existent. The actual iWork is something so horrible, I have already downloaded a trial of the old iWork 09 and the beauty, elegance, smoothness and friendly user interface is completely different. iWork 09 is more attractive to work.

To survive the Apple Community Forum: reduce the size of the text using the shortcut CMD + "-" signal when you have the Apple Community page opened on Safari. The Limnos user suggestion appears to be good but at the moment I am too lazy to do that. Doing CMD+ "-" works good for me.

The Limnos/tt2 CSS tweaks will take you all of 2 minutes to implement in Safari or Chrome - download Stylish, copy and paste the code, and save. That is it. I am using them with Chrome on my MBP and it has made all the difference. Suggest you try them...

I'm going to concur with the statement there is no proper category in feedback to address the problems with the new layout.

    1) IMHO its estitetically bad, the thin font, white background. People with vision issues or compensated sight problems may have a much harder time reading their posts and responses. I would think Apple of all companies would be more considerate to those with compensated vision. Just because it looks good on a mock up does not mean people can work with it for an extended period of time.

    2) the random reformatting of text shows this was not QC'ed properly.

    3) the featured posts section is presents extra steps in getting to the select forum.

    4) the use of the "all replies" in the threads truncates the thread for no apparent reason and presents extra steps in reviewing the responses already offered and the bulky layout makes review process longer to accommodate the layout.
