Jun 9, 2016 1:22 PM in response to onecherokeeby elcpu,Try resetting your Mail Account. First close your Mail App completely from the app switcher window by double clicking the Home button and swiping up the Mail preview pane up until it disappears from the screen. Then go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > locate your email provider and click on the account and swipe to Delete. Then do a forced restart. Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Then go back to Settings > Mail… and add the account again.

Jun 9, 2016 1:37 PM in response to onecherokeeby antYmae,1) Delete account: Go go Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Your gmail account and delete.
2)Set the account again, but this time don't use gmail option. Instead used "Other account" and follow the steps. Now all info you need is in here: https://www.apple.com/support/mail-settings-lookup/ > Put your mail in there and you'll have all you need to set the account.
3)If the issue persists is probably because of the ports in the servers. So go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Your gmail account > Advance > Check this:
Outgoing Mail Server: 587
Incoming Mail Server Port: 993
This would be all. It must work.
