Q: Listing directory on External Share
Hi,
I'm re-doing our company staff website. In our old site (drupal on ubuntu with nginx) we had one area where we listed a particular directory from our file server. We could do this by mounting the remote file system in a directory in /mnt then using location in the site's configuration so when users loaded staff.url.com/ourflles they saw the contents of a shared "files" directory in the remote server.
Mac web server isn't going so well. I assume I need to use symlinks and some combination of settings in /Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/httpd_server_app.conf and .htaccess either in the directory on the web server where I'm putting the symlink or the directory on the file server where the files are. In the latter case, I'm not sure if my <directory...> tag should reference the url from the point of view of the web client, the share from the point of view of the web server, or the absolute path to on the file server. Of course, it's only relevant if I'm even in the right ballpark with how to do this. I assumed I would put (somewhere), these settings:
Options Indexes MultiViews FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride None
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
I've been on dozens pf pages and blogs and have had no luck. Anyone know how I can do this? The alias feature in the Server.app doesn't allow me to set aliases to symbolic links. I figured since I can do it in linux, unix wasn't that far removed and it would work. But I've been frustrated so far. My head is spinning so if I'm not making sense, tell me and I'll try to clarify/elaborate.
Thanks,
Jeff
