Jun 9, 2016 4:47 PM in response to Mike Sombrioby mchristofaro,Mike,
Thanks for the quick reply. The problem is still happening, though. When I run EtreCheck, does it matter which problem I choose before running it?
Thanks,
Matt

Jun 10, 2016 8:26 AM in response to mchristofaroby John Galt,It looks as though you're using the "e*trade" app. Does the same problem occur with all apps, or just that one?
You were advised to try "safe mode" and run the app while in that mode. Does the same problem occur while in Safe Mode?
At least two versions of the "MacKeeper" app appear to have been installed at one time. "Avast" is worthless garbage and arguably malware in itself. If you attempted to uninstall them, that attempt was ineffective. You may need to completely erase that Mac and reconfigure it to undo all the potential damage.
If you want a Mac to work properly, non-Apple "anti-virus" and "cleaning" apps must be categorically avoided. "MacKeeper" is just one popular example. I doubt it is the cause of the problem you're experiencing though. In all likelihood, a hardware fault exists. The results of operating in "Safe Mode" will help support that hypothesis.

Jun 13, 2016 11:06 AM in response to John Galtby mchristofaro,I Googled how to completely uninstall Mackeeper and was able to find a few files that were still on my Mac and got rid of them. I wasn't able to find anything left of Avast. When I run the computer in safe mode, it doesn't seem to show the problem...

Jun 13, 2016 7:54 PM in response to mchristofaroby John Galt,"Googling" in an attempt to find uninstallation instructions for specific programs will invariably result in advertisements for scam "one-click fix" products that will only bring more misery upon yourself. Or, halfwit instructions for DIY Mac brain surgery. That's the last thing you need. It's also a distressingly popular activity.
In the case of "MacKeeper", quitting the app and then dragging its application icon to the Trash will remove all its components. As for "Avast", using its uninstallation utility will also remove it completely. Those procedures are provided in their instructions, and I have personally verified they work. Not all such garbage is as easily removed.
If you did not follow those instructions, I cannot provide assurance those programs are not still adversely affecting your Mac, potentially contributing to the display corruption you're experiencing. That is the reason I wrote you may need to completely erase that Mac and reconfigure it to undo all the potential damage.
As a rule I do not permit any modifications to the Mac operating systems I rely upon. If you are required to do that for whatever reason though, a plan to un-modify them is an essential prerequisite, so that the kind of problems you are encountering can be addressed. The easiest way to do that is Time Machine, which is what I use after attempting to duplicate other people's Mac problems.
If you do not have a backup, create one now. Then, you'll have some options. The option most likely to be effective and take the least amount of your time and constant interaction would be to erase the Mac completely, followed by selective restoration of your essential documents and other files.

Jun 15, 2016 5:38 AM in response to John Galtby mchristofaro,Avast and Mackeeper seem to be completely gone now. Also, the latest iOS updates were crashing my Mac once it restarted, but I successfully installed them this time...How's it look now?
