Problem with Thunderbird update 1.2 loading

Since I did the thunderbird update 1.2, my computer is locking up. It never loaded, and now the message at turn on says "thunderbird display firmware cannot complete" The genius fix is to delete all programs and apps and start over. Any other ideas? I can't reload 1.2. It doesn't appear on the app store screen. I would like to avoid the time suck of starting over, if there is a Thunderbolt fix. Thanks.
