some of my family members want to use their credit cards instead of mine to make purchases but when they attempt to purchase something it gets charged directly to my account.

"When you set up Family Sharing, you'll be asked to confirm that you agree to pay for purchases initiated by the family members you invite and that you have a valid payment method on file."
Members who are not the organizer cannot use a credit card. However, they can pay for their own purchases by buying and redeeming iTunes gift cards to their own accounts. Then any purchases (other than gifts) will be charged to their store credit balance before hitting the Organizer's credit card.
