Q: ipod gen 5 glitching

Okay, so.

I have had my iPod touch for about a year and a half, and about half a year in it started clutching, but it was livable.

It is to the point now that I cant even use it. It won't connect to WiFi, wont update

IOS, won't let me set the correct date as its set to December 31, 1969 at 7 pm exactly.

I just want my device to work again. I cant get a new one, as I'm pretty

much broke.

any help or advice? Thanks.

    Hello Heatherisacat,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

From what I can gather, you're unable to connect to Wi-Fi on your iPod and cannot get the correct date to show on it as well.

I take my iPod with me everywhere so I know that how important it is that it work right.

The first thing I would suggest would be to restart the iPod.

    How to restart

    1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
    2. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
    3. After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.

    Have a great day!

Not know exactly what happens when you try do some of those thinks like update iOS:

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    - Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

    - Restore from backup. See:

Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup - Apple Support

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204184

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    https://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/

    And if necessary:

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201412

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

    - Try another cable

    - Try on another computer

    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
