Nope - we can not see you so you have to provide details

When you import noting is changed or deleted so you actually have to provide information

What do you mean - "The Time Stamp Gets Deleted"?and why do you thing that the time stamp has been deleted?

    How are you importing?

    Hi Larry

Thank you for the answer. I'll try to explain it better.

I do exactly the same as described in this guide: Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

The imported photos now has the time stamp for the day I imported the photos. E.i. I took the photo April 29. On the iPhone it says April 29. After the import all dates connected to the photos (cmd+i) shows the date I imported the photos. The original date is erased and substituted with the new date.

Does it makes sense now? Else try explain what information I need to provide.

    Thanks a lot

Again we can not see you so you have to provide details - the article you said you did "exactly the same as" has three or four totally different methods described - to help you have to tell us exactly what you did - telling us that you die one of several things is no help

and exactly why do you think the time stamp has been changed?

    Hi Larry

Thank you for your patience with me

I'll try explain it as detailed as I can. Else please let me know where in the process I'm loosing you.

    - On my my iPhone 5s, latest iOS, I have pictures that I have shot with the build-in-camera on the phone

    - In the photoapp (the official iOS photoapp) there is a text above the photo displaying where and when the picture was shot.

    - I plug my iPhone 5s in my macbook pro OSX 10.11.5

    - Photos on the macbook opens automatically.

    - I press the Import button in the upper right side of the window.

    - All my pictures from the iphone shows up.

    - I select the pictures I want to import by clicking them

    - I press the "Import selected pictures" in the upper right side of the window.
    - The selected pictures now show up in the "album" tab.
    - I select all the pictures

    - I drag the pictures to a Finder folder.

    - I select the pictures in the Finder folder

    - I press cmd+i to see the info.

    - All dates on the pictures is today, the moment I imported the pictures and there is no trace of the original date, when the picture was shot.

To sum it up I just want to get my pictures from my iphone to my folders on my macbook and still be able to know what date the pictures were shot. (and without having to email every single picture to myself)

    why details are ctritical

here is exactly why you are getting the wrong dates

    - I select all the pictures

    - I drag the pictures to a Finder folder.

    - I select the pictures in the Finder folder

    - I press cmd+i to see the info.

    - All dates on the pictures is today, the moment I imported the pictures and there is no trace of the original date, when the picture was shot.

YOu are not looking at the photos dates - you are looking at the file dates

If you get info on them in Photos you will see the same dates as the iPhone - Everything will be fine if you use a photo program like Preview to  open one of the pictures you moved a preview of to the finder (note that what you are doing gives you not only a new file with new file info but also is a lower resolution preview with limited metadata)  --  when you use the finder to look at the file dates you see just that which has nothin to do with the photos date - think of the photo being a dated letter and you put it in an envelope and the post office stamps a mailed date on it whihc can be days, weeks, months or even years different than the letter date - the photo has dates like the letter does and they are part of the photo and can easily be accessed - and the envelope has a date which is only associated with the envelope and has nothing to do with the contents - the file contains a photo and each has its own dates

now that you have provided details he answer is trivial - until now it was impossible

Haha, thank you very much, Larry.

I don't see myself as a tec noob, but this conversation really makes me sound like my mom when she calls and complains about her computer

Now I only have one little question left:

How do I get the pictures from my phone to my computer without loosing the date on the envelope? The reason why I want to keep it is because the date that shows in Finder is the envelope date. If that date is wrong in Finder I don't know when the pictures was shot.

If the goal is to get the pictures to a Finder folder, try using Image Capture to do the transfer instead of Photos. You can even set Image Capture to be the application to open when your phone is connected to your computer.

If you want the pictures to wind up in both a Finder folder and the Photos library, you can use either of two paths:

    * Transfer them to a Finder folder with Image Capture, then Import them from the folder with Photos.

    or

    * Transfer them into your Photos library with Photos, then Export (not drag) them to the Finder folder.

I have no idea how or if you can do that - I use Photos and have never been concerned about the file (envelope) dates as I only look at the photo dates

If you use image capture it may or may not make the file date the same as the photo date on the Phone

there is software around that you can find by searching that will modify the file metadata to match the photo metadata

But why not just use Photos to manage your photos? It does a great job of that - the finder is a very poor photo manager - using the finder is going to give you far inferior results with much greater effort
