Q: Where does airdrop save aiff-c files?

I transfered an aiff-c file (copied on my iMac from an old music CD) to my iphone 6+ via airdop. The file completed the transfer and showed me options where to save/open it (iMovie, Dropbox etc). But it did not give me the option of using the Music App to save/open it. I chose iMovie and it opened, but the file did not show up there. Where has the file gone? How do I search for it?

The following two articles will be helpful to you for future sync purposes. Airdrop was not intended as a means to sync music into your music library on your iOS devices. To answer your question of where the file went, the answer is iMovie. That was the app that you chose to open the file in. The file doesn't go to a documents folder on your iPhone in wait of learning what app you would like to use with it. You are being asked to choose which app to open and store the file in. If iMovie did not pull your music file, then it is not on your iPhone.  Some music files will prompt a message at the very bottom of iMovie when attempting to import stating the file cannot be imported. Otherwise, a green line of audio will lay down in your edit window. It sounds like iMovie didn't take your file so it now exists nowhere on your iPhone.
