Microphone button

Hi Folks,

A few weeks ago, I noticed that when I use the dictation microphone button on the keyboard (next to the space bar) that it no longer "dings" when it starts and when I am done dictating. Now it is just silent when I push that microphone button and waits for me to say something and is also muted when I push the "Done" button. I actually liked this so I know when I can start to talk to dictate text. I also noticed that Siri is also muted and does not beep when I hold the home button or say "Hey Siri.." Volume is high on my phone and the phone is not on silent..

All other sounds work on my iphone 5S (iOS 9.3.2). Did some update shut these sounds off? How can I get these sounds back (especially the microphone button sounds).

thanks but the first thing I tried was a "shut up and reboot" so to speak 🙂 actually what i just noticed is that when I do push the microphone button to speak my text, I do hear an extremely faint ding but I have to hold the phone's speakers to my ear to hear it. I do have the ringer and volume button turned up. What I just tried was when I push the microphone button I simultaneously hold the volume up button and now the sound comes on louder. Again it is strange since the volume was already set to maximum, but perhaps there is a hidden separate setting to control that volume for the microphone "ding".. strange..

No, it is still there.

Try turning off the phone and turning it back on.

If that doesn't work, try a forced restart: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the restart.
