Q: No Longer Able to Synchronize and Use iCloud Credentials to Unlock Mac OS X 10.11.5
I used the "Set up iCloud on all your devices" and the "Set up iCloud Keychain" instructions on both my iPhone 6, iOS 9.3.2 and my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 (15F34) ages ago with relative success.
Recently, I used my iCloud password (Apple ID password) on a public PC via a Web browser. I changed quickly changed the password afterward as a precaution from my iPhone. Later, I had difficulty getting my MacBook to unlock and to get the iCloud credentials working again on both my iPhone 6 and MacBook.
It appears one of the effects of OS X El Capitan v10.11.5 and Security Update 2016-003 is the elimination of the “Use iCloud Password” option of the “Change Password” function on the MacBook Pro “System Preferences” menu. The Apple Support documentation lacks information communicating any anticipated affects to their products' functionality (what the customer can expect to experience), nor the actual results (successful, bugs, unexpected affects) after being applied.
Does anyone know if this was an intentional or an accidental result of the change?
Is anyone else experiencing problems with Keychain on iOS devices? The Keychain Access product's function on my iPhone also no longer automatically fills credentials for sites and applications, though this may be due to my troubleshooting. I decided to get a new Keychain rather than continue working the problem.
Thank you.
