The external battery must provide 14.85 volts (about 15 volts rounded) at 3 Amps or about 45 watts - Amps X Volts = Watts. Best to buy an external battery capable of supplying a bit more power than needed. However, be sure about the voltage because most external power supplies only provide 5 and/or 9 volts. Your model requires nearly 15 volts DC or AC (don't know what it says on the adapter) because the computer provides internal regulators to drop the voltage to that required by the chips in the computer which is usually 5 volts.
These same concerns will apply to solar supplies. My iPad will charge from many different external supplies that provide 5 volts at around 2.5 Amps or 12.5 watts. I have no idea how long it would take at that charging rate to fully charge in iPhone battery if it were down at, say, 10% of full charge. Could take a couple of hours, but I've never measured so I don't know.
