Q: Grey screen after iTunes update
I have a 2006 Macbook Pro, running on OSX 10.7, and I recently got an iPhone 5s. When I connected it I was prompted to update iTunes, which I did, and when I try to start up now, I get a weird grey screen with kind of zigzags across it and the logo and wheel in the background, which then turns into just a solid grey screen.
I managed to start up in safe mode, ran the 'verify disk', and it came up with no errors. When I ran 'verify disk permissions', it came up with a few 'permissions differ' notices for the lockscreen leopard 386 app, and a ton for iTunes. I just checked and the latest iTunes requires OSX 10.8 or higher, so maybe that's the problem? I did 'repair disk permissions' and it said it repaired the issues, but when I restarted I got the grey screen again, and going into safe mode again and running the verify permissions, all the same issues are still coming up.
If I uninstall iTunes, will that fix the problem? Or any other ideas why I'm getting the grey screen? I don't think I've installed anything new except iTunes. I don't have startup disks to reload the OS - although I upgraded to OSX 10.7 from 10.6 recently through the app store, so maybe I would be able to re-download and install. Is that the same thing as reloading the OS?
