Q: slow print printing with usb connected HP C410
Within the last week or so, printing to an HP Photosmart C410 connected via USB to my mid-2007 iMac running 10.10.5 has become problematic. Print jobs are taking an inordinately long time to start according to my "She Who Must Be Obeyed" (aka wife ) She reports that power-cycling the printer has no effect. I have tried "resetting the print queue" per a link I found on hp.com, which seems really to be just "delete the printer." A one-page I printed seemed to print with the previously expected speed. However, after the page has printed it seems to remain listed in the print queue as 100% complete. And in a Terminal window in which 'top' is running I notice a "usb" process that seems to be consuming about 30+% of a CPU.
iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), 4GB, 2.4 GHz Core2 Duo
