Q: Multi Output Instruments Not Working After 10.2.3

I use a lot of multi output instruments, like Steve Slate Drums, where I bus each instrument (kick, snare) to it's own track. This allows me to mix and process it like a real drum kit. However, after updating Logic 10.2.3, I can no longer use multi output instruments. It all just comes out of one track and won't let me re-assign it. If I open up a brand new instance of Steve Slate then it works, but for all of the existing session I have (hundreds) al of the drums now come out of one channel, rendering all of the mixing I've done useless. Has anybody else experienced this? Who do I write to at Logic to let them know?

    Hi Todd

Check to see if there is an update to the software.

You might try to delete your LogicPro Preferences and see if it helps.

You can use the "Send Feedback to Apple" under the Logic Menu Bar to send bug reports. Most likely, you will not hear from them, but they do read the reports and the more folks complain, the faster a fix or feature will be added.

    Good Luck!

    Hope this helps, Greg

I have the same problem and the only solution is to save all your channel strip settings and delete all the extra aux tracks and put them back and then put your channel strip settings back, but I mean come on for every project??? What a pain. There has to be a fix for this. Not happy at all.

I figured out a workaround that takes 30 seconds, not ideal but way better than re doing the multi output instrument. I got this from tech support....

'In the Input menu for the multi-out Aux channel strips, the selected output is listed twice, with the current selection on the bottom of the menu. Select the duplicate setting closer to the top of the menu instead.'

Basically on each channel of the multi output, go to 'input' and you'll see that the input is listed twice.... select the one that is higher up

This needs to get to the top. It's a serious bug that needs addressing.

Here's what ended up working for me.

This really only works if you've been backing up your machine (and if your music/projects are important to you at all, then you have been). Simply go into a backup before your update was installed. Locate the previous version of Logic. Remove the current (10.2.3) version and throw it in the trash. Copy the 10.2.2 version into your apps folder. I was able to open back up my project that I attempted in 10.2.3 (with the bug) and it all seems to work fine when I reverted back to 10.2.2. Try it out.

Note- if you're not sure on how to navigate through your backup, I'll do my best to explain here:

    1. Select whatever your backup drive is from within a finder window.

    2. Open the folder called "Backups.backupdb"

    3. Go deeper into the hierarchy until you've reached the area with a bunch of folders all named by date and time.

    4. This is where you'll go through and choose a date that is hopefully before you installed the new Logic update. At this point, you should be familiar with where to find your applications folder and the Logic app itself (mine was about 1.76GB).

If you're STILL having issues, just contact Apple Support to help you over the phone, or wait until a fix is out.

I had similar midi control problems with controller board after the update. I deleted/rebuilt my preferences and all the problems went away. It's always a good idea to delete preferences after an update, anyway.

Yep - got the same thing here. I'm going back to 10.2.2 - what a screw up from Apple - jeez. How did they not pick this one up during testing?....

Exact same issue Todd91. I am waiting to get some Feedback from Apple as well. I have 2 years of mixes that have been rendered useless at the moment . This is a serious issue. Needs to be resolved ASAP.   Good Luck

Hi. Are you not able to roll back to 10.2.2? It sounds from your post that you're stuck with broken projects? Is that correct?

Thanks - no less than should be expected of course.

I may try it, but the update to 10.2.3 trashed all my custom plugin folders as well so I'm not in a rush to have that happen again......
