Ubiquiti NonoBridge M5 + Time Capsule as router

Hi,

I have an internet connection via Ubiquiti NonBridge M5 (I guess it doesn't matter what it is) and than I have a Time Capsule.

Now the Time Capsule is in bridge mode and NonoBridge M5 act as Router.

Can someone help me to set it up so that the Time Capsule will act as router (DHCP, NAT, port forwarding etc) and the NanoBridge M5 will just provide the internet?

I need it because when I set up the OS X Server, it can manage the time capsule and the setting up is much easier.

Thanks 🙂

Time Capsule-OTHER, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5), null

We can help you reconfigure your Time Capsule (TC) as a bridge, but you will need to contact Ubiquiti support for the proper method for reconfiguring their device as a modem only.

To reconfigure your TC as a bridge, you would use the AirPort Utility as follows:

  • Run the AirPort Utility.
  • Select the TC, and then, select Edit.
  • For a Mac:
    • On the Network tab, change Router Mode to: Off (Bridge Mode)
    • Select Update and allow the TC to restart.
  • For an iOS device:
    • Select Advanced > DHCP and NAT
    • Change Router Mode to: Off (Bridge Mode)
    • Select Done and allow the TC to restart.

I think there is some confusion here.

The Ubiquiti is a Wireless AP. It is named Nanostation.

It is probably setup as point to point bridge.

If you setup the TC correctly in bridge mode you will actually be using the main router from wherever the Nanostation is picking up signal.

If you setup the TC as a router.. I strongly recommend you reset it to factory and start over. Simply changing from bridge to NAT + DHCP will usually hit an error in the IP setup

You need to realise what comes next is Double NAT error and you need to be careful choosing IP range of the TC .. certainly if the main router of the network you are joining is passing a 10.x.x.x address change the TC over to 192.168.x.x Otherwise you will not be able to route correctly.
