I am transferring pictures from my iPhone to my macbook air. When I connect my USB cable my new pictures show up for me to import onto my mac but I still have like 800 older photos that I can't figure out how to import. Help Please! Thanks!

How did you import these photos originally to the iPhone?

When you connect the iPhone to the USB port, you can only import photos from the camera roll, because only camera rolls and saved items will show in the Import panel.

  • You cannot import photos that have been synced to the iPhone with iTunes.
  • And you cannot import the photos that have been synced to the iPhone from iCloud Photo Library, if you enabled iCloud Photo Library and Optimize Storage. In that case the photos will be visible on your iPhone, but for most photos you will see only optimized thumbnails.

If the older photos are stored in the camera roll and show up in the Import panel click them to select them, then click "All Selected".
