    You are going to have to say more. Terminal typically wants your admin psswd.

     

    psswd in terminal will not echo.

    Thanks. I confirm terminal will not echo, thus my confusion escalated on app-specific train of thought. I solved my problem. The app requesting the app-specific passcode was iCloud login. So iCloud login is an app. A few days ago, my iCloud login password was the same as my appleid password. Not today. Finally connected with the iCloud login. Nomenclature around here not yet fixed in my mind. Why is app-specific passcode requested for an existing iCloud account?
