Q: The mail app on my iPad is taking up 1.3GB

this is immposible becuase after i saw that it was taking up so much space I decided to deleted everything in my inbox, sent box, drafts, spam, and trash. There's not data on it but settings still says that mail is taking up 1.3GB. It's been like this for the past week and it's getting really annoying because I need this space. It's an air 2, if that helps.

    Hello kmcove18,

     

    Thanks for joining us in the Apple Support Communities. I'm happy to provide you with some resources to help free up some of that space that your Mail is using.

     

    It's great that you've already taken some initiative to delete so many messages from all of those locations. Since you're still having this issue after doing so, it's possible that some of this space is being taken up by attachments that may have been saved from your emails.

     

    To resolve this, it may be best to remove the email accounts and configure them again. Before doing so, it's important to note that POP email servers download the messages to the device, so removing the account could cause permanent loss to any emails still on your iPad. IMAP, however, syncs with the mail servers and should not encounter this same issue. In either case, it's always a good idea to start with a backup:

    Once you've backed it up, you can use these steps to remove and add the account again:

     

    1. On your iOS device, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    2. Tap the email account you want to remove.
    3. Tap Delete Account.
    4. Add an email account to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch​.
