Hello, I have a mac os x yosemite. I want to import photos from my iPhone to my mac, when I connect with a usb port the iTunes opens up and photos as well but the photos app does not have an import button to click on. Please help.

When Photos open, reveal the sidebar by entering the key combination ⌥⌘S.

Is the iPhone visible inthe sidebar? Then click the icon. You should now be seeing two sections "Already Imported" and "New Items".

If not, check if the iPhone is unlocked. You may need to enter the passcode on the iPhone and then confirm that you trust the device on the iPhone,

Is iCloud Photo Library enabled? Then there may be no new photos on the iPhone, because all photos are in iCloud and not on the iPhone.

take a new photo with your iPhone to be sure there is at least one photo in the Camera Roll, then restart the iPhone while it is connected to USB.

Is your iPhone fully charged? It does show in iTunes?

Check, if Image Capture does recognize the iPhone as a camera. You can use Image Capture to download the photos and videos to a folder on your Desktop.

Which version of OS X are you using? if you did not yet update to OS X 10.11.5 try that. It has some bug fixes for better importing.

TTry a different USB port.

and straighten the cable, perhaps it is broken somewhere.

you can try to transfer the photos using my Photo Stream, but the videos will not transfer this way.

Hello, I have the exactly same situation.

I just tried to connect the cable to the other usb port on the other side of the macbook, and it worked! Photo popped up automatically and i have "import" button now.

However, the usb port on the left (the one I always use) still can't recognize my phone...

Check, if there is some dust or dirt in that port. Otherwise get the Mac checked. Perhaps some connections have come loose.
