IPOD Shuffle 2nd Gen

Please could someone help me fix this problem.

ITunes Diagnostics cannot see my IPOD.

It is listed in ITunes as a device on the screen between Library and Playlists.

But when I try to sync a Playlist to the IPOD, ITunes says the sync is complete but there is nothing on the IPOD.

When I attach the IPOD using the original cable, the Apple USB Device Driver appears in Device Manager.

I would like to reset to factory settings to see if that would help, but I can't do that because the IPOD is not recognised as such.

Could you suggest a solution?

Thanks for your help.

Hi, thanks for your suggestion.

I have tried this but iTunes seems to recognise the IPOD in some areas but not in others.

For example, when I try to sync its says IPOD Sync Completed but nothing is synced.

When I run Diagnostics from the Help menu, Connectivity test fails with the message ' iTunes Helper not running' under Support Services Heading; but under the Ports heading it states IPOD found.

And then in the iTunes Diagnostics Complete window it says the IPOD Shuffle 2nd Generation is running firmware version1.0.4.

Do you know how to get iTunes Helper running, maybe that would help?

You can run iTunesHelper.exe from C:\Program Files\iTunes. As far as I'm aware it runs at system startup if you have the option to launch iTunes when this device is connected selected for any of your devices and its only job is to manage that task, but I could be wrong.
