Jun 13, 2016 5:53 AM in response to rudi_botby Limnos,It sounds like iTunes is using some default settings and/or no longer using your old library file. iTunes's default is for it to manage media organization. If you have just updated there are a small percentage of cases where it needs to be pointed to the library again. Finally, if you are using a NAS you are living dangerously. iTunes does not always work well with NAS and nothing that happens surprises me, nor can it always be logically explained.

Jun 13, 2016 6:13 AM in response to Limnosby rudi_bot,Good to know with the NAS. But the same thing happened before when using an external HD. Listening to songs and
days later, these songs could not be found nor were still somwhere. This happened a dozen times.
Thanks for the reply. I am just ******, because the clean up takes days AGAIN!!

Jun 13, 2016 6:17 AM in response to rudi_botby Limnos,Clean up should only take as long as it takes to restore the library from a backup. About 1 minute of actual action on your part copying a folder from one place to another, plus whatever time it takes to actually copy the folder.

Jun 13, 2016 6:46 AM in response to Limnosby rudi_bot,No. iTunes took songs from different albums and placed them into new folders. It has done it before, so this problem is not only related to the NAS. But I will move the library somewhere else and keep the backup on the NAS. because I am sure, it will happen again.

Jun 13, 2016 7:11 AM in response to rudi_botby Limnos,If you keep an iTunes library on a different drive iTunes will revert to using the library on an internal drive if the external drive is not on, fully mounted and awake before starting iTunes. In this case if iTunes cannot find the library file it will create a new one with default settings and then re-download iTunes Store purchases making you think it has removed your CD sourced items. In reality everything has gone but it is re-stocking from the iTunes Store.

Jun 13, 2016 8:01 AM in response to Limnosby rudi_bot,I know what You mean. But it had nothing to do with being bought on iTunes or copied from my CDs. It just deleted song titles complete or like now again.
Just by linking the library, iTunes went through and took song 1-5, 8+9, 15 from Album A, made a new folder moved the titles there and delete the old one.
Really no logic in the actions. But I guess I have to live with it.
