Q: Is the update from version 10.2.1 to 10.2.3 free....? There is suggestion to make a backup copy of the 10.2 1 first but it shows 199,99€ for update...?

Is it free update from 10.2.1 to 10.2.3 ??

It was not released in App Store like other earlier updates?

It is free. Make sure you are logged in under the Apple ID you used for the original purchase.

People don't realize, but it can't be emphasized enough.

Your Apple ID is your software license key

Although you don't need it to run an app that was purchased with a specific Apple ID, you WILL need it if you want to upgrade the app or install it on a different machine or a new system.

Make sure to keep that Apple ID plus password stored somewhere, even if you use a different/new Apple ID for your current purchases!

    Hope that helps

Ok! Thanks for the info !

But what to do if i do not remeber or find the old (or original Apple ID) which was used when i purchased the Logic Pro X in first place?

I have changed my Apple Id recently and perhaps i did it 2-3 times for some reason.....!?

My original data is possible to check out by Apple company by my computers serial number to prove that it´s the same one

to which i originally loaded the Logic Pro X......!

So i hope all is not lost and i can update my Logic Pro to new 10.2.3 version soon !

Sorry about my carelessness with the Apple Id.

PS. How about going back to my backup harddisk and go back in timeline....??

First of all, you have to know the Apple ID you purchased Logic with. I think, when you click the Update button in the App Store, it pops up an Authorization window with the Apple ID, you purchased the app with. I use two different Apple IDs (Personal and Business) and if I'm currently logged in to the other account, the window will let me know that ID I need to verify.

    About the password.

All is not lost, especially if you have a Time Machine (or other backups). In your Application/Utilities/ folder is an application called "Keychain Access". It stores pretty much all your passwords (apps, Apple ID, websites, etc). If you know the old Apple ID, you might find it in the list. You have to authorize with your OSX Admin password to read the password. If you made a clean install, then you have to find an older version of the file that the Keychain Access stores its data to. Now, that might be a little bit more trickier.

If you have a credit card receipt of your Logic Pro X purchase, then you might have a chance by calling Apple Support and talk to them.

    Good luck

    Hope that helps

    Hello!

Finally i got it right - i had to go to change Apple Id and i remembered the old Id + password.

The Apple Id adress is the same, but i changed the password - i found the section "Bought" programs after

i got the Apple Store Id correct and there was a list of bought/loaded apps.

So i saw the 1,31 G bytes of update for Logic Pro X and thought that it ´s the correct amount

    of update.

And at first i went to earlier version in my Time Machine backup ( not the original device but works like the

TIme Machine.....!?) and loaded a backup made sometime ago - then to the Appstore after finding out

    the old Id & password.

Now the password has been changed - i´m using now different e-mail adress, so am i having trouble

in the future about update announcements from App Store - do they come through?

I changed my Apple Id because of the Face Time i remember ( it asked the Apple Id, so i changed......! ).

That´s possibly the reason why i did not get the update message from Apple about the new version of Logic Pro X....!

So thanks for your assistance & help !  The Logic Pro X itself is quite a program and it seems to getting even better!!

All the best to you and your friends & family !!
