Q: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

Following the Eric Root's kind advice, I ran EterCheck and got the below-pasted text. Could you please help me draw the conclusions out of it?

BTW, because of my problem, I could not access https://etrecheck.com... I had to download it to another laptop and transfer the file with a DoK...

    A few things.

        /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.progressionist.plist

            /etc/progressionist.sh

        [running] com.progressionist.plist (2016-06-01) [Support]

As BDAqua has pointed out, it looks like progressionist is constantly crashing.  This can suck up a lot of resources.  If you need this, then make sure you have the latest version.  If you have the latest version see about re-installing it, or uninstall and re-install (save any work files that might get deleted if an uninstall/reinstall).  If you do not need it, uninstall it using the vendor's uninstall instructions.

        [running] com.google.Chrome.68760

        324 MB    Google Chrome Helper(6)

        90 MB    Google Chrome

Chrome is a resouces hog.  It generally does not care how much of your Mac resources it uses.  Be careful about the number of concurrent tabs you keep option in Crhome.

    [running] com.google.GoogleDrive.34964

Google Drive can consume network bandwidth.  Not a problem if you have not noticed it, but if you do see network slowdowns, look at what Google Drive is doing.

        [loaded]    com.bittorrent.uTorrent.18492

You have a bit torrent client.  Depending on how you have this  configured, it could be sucking down your network bandwidth.  Unless you really need to share 24/7, you might look into turning off the background task when you are not actually using bit torrent.

        /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.uusktas.plist

        [not loaded] com.uusktas.plist (2016-05-11) [Support]

        [running] /Library/uusktas/uusktas.app/Contents/MacOS/uusktas

    what is uusktas ???

If you know what it is, and you like it, fine.  But if it is unknown, you might want to do some google searching to figure out what it is and then decide if you want to keep it or not.

Well Google is not finding anything useful about uusktas nor progressionist.

    I suggest you use EasyFind

    <http://www.devontechnologies.com/products/freeware.html>

and search your entire disk for any files related to uusktas and progressionist.  Then remove them, or move them somewhere out of the way.  If you find you have lost a service you were depending on, then you will know where they came from and you can re-install the software from the official site.  If all works well and you do not miss anything, then leave them off your system.

The fact that things are working well in Safe mode, is a strong indication that one of the EtreCheck mentioned launch agents or daemons is causing your problems.  So besides uusktas and progressionist, review the other launch agents and daemons to see if any of those are also at fault.  You may need to remove them one by one to see which are causing you problems, but start with the ones you know you do not need any more as if they are the cause, you can stop and keep the ones you do use.

Hi Bob. I exactly followed your instructions, downloaded EasyFind to a DoK, installed it on the faulty Mac (it won't connect to the link you provided me with...), ran it, finally found the hidden UUSKTAS and Progressionist files (there were plenty of them!), copied them to the DoK, erased them from the Mac's HD, rebooted and.....

    Looks like everything's working!!

Thanks a lot for staying with me and for not giving up! I highly appreciate it!

I'm running now the (many) updates that were queued in the App store, including the OS update. I hope that within few hours I'll be able to confirm to you that I'm back to BAU.. Thanks!!
