Q: Getting rid of default drop shadows on text?

Grrr.

 

I have to make up a large presentation in Keynote in a hurry.  With graphics created in Keynote.  My first grrrr:  I open a text box.  It has a default text with a drop shadow.  Nothing in the Inspector 'Style' selections allows me to get rid of this default drop shadow.

 

How can I create text without a default drop shadow?

 

Help!

Each Theme and Slide Master will have different attributes attached to text, objects, backgrounds, thats what themes are all about after all.

The industrial theme indeed uses a drop shadow on text.

 

So use the industrial theme and click the advanced options gear wheel in  Inspector > Format > Text     to set shadow attributes

    Create a custom theme:

     

    go to master slides:   view > Master slide

    add a new master slide

    add text boxes and change the text formatting without shadoww

    save as a theme File > Save Theme

    Hi Gary,

     

    I add a new Master Slide.  But if I create a text box ... the text already has a drop-shadow attached and none of the drop shadow controls have any effect.

     

    Perhaps this is a function of the template I chose? ... which is the standard 'Industrial' template (the one with the charcoal black background with little holes in it).

     

    I created a new project with a standard white background.  But I can't copy the background of the 'industrial' template ... which is what we need for this project.

     

    Now I could do a screen capture of the background, and bring THAT into the white template ... but I'd much rather just be able to work in the 'industrial' template and get rid of the dang drop-shadows on the text.

     

    Is such a thing possible do you think?

    Hi Gary,

     

     

     

    The only solution I could find was to copy text from another app (just pulled it from Mail) ... and paste it into this 'Industrial template'.  And then the text comes in clean, no drop-shadows.  I can ADD drop-shadows etc. to this text from Keynote.

     

     

    If another solution pops into your mind, love to hear it.

    Thank you Gary ...

     

     

    I did a 20 hour stretch non-stop to get this presentation ready -- borrowing text from elsewhere to get rid of the uncontrollable drop shadows.  Boy could I have used that 'Advanced Options' wheel ...

     

    Now I know where it is.  I will not forget.  Ever.
